In this time of staying in, it’s sometimes a challenge to keep oneself occupied (read: sane) I have a suggestion for you. Do It Yourself crafts! What better way to stay busy than making your own beautiful home decor.
It can be therapeutic.
For many people, sitting and creating can be a relaxing activity. Concentrating on an activity, creating something with your own hands, seeing a result and taking pride in it brings us feelings of joy and satisfaction. (and, if it turns out like crap, you get the joy and release of smashing it to pieces)
It can save money
Why spend lots of money on mass produced garbage or drop a big wad on “high end” decor when you can just make whatever you need yourself. You pick the colors, the materials and the subject matter. You can even go the route of the “upcycle” and find old furniture, frames, pallet wood to repurpose. Which brings me too…
It can save the planet
Talk about a money saver. Repurposing things into fabulous new decor items is not only trendy, but makes for less trash in landfills. I just love trash picking wood and other discarded items that I can make into something beautiful.
It has more meaning.
Creating your own decor item for your home has way more meaning than something you picked up at the home store. You remember how you felt when you made it and why you designed it a certain way. Nothing like a case of the warm fuzzies to brighten your day.
So, why do I bring this up as a topic? Glad you asked. Here, at Crafty Couture DIY Chalk Studio and More, we offer guided classes. Come into the Studio and create a variety of projects with seasonal and general interest. And best is no clean up for you!
